A remodel or a new build ends in the same place every time: the work is finished, the crew has swept up, and the house is still nowhere near ready to live in. Drywall sanding, sawing and cutting leave a fine dust that settles on every horizontal surface, gets inside cabinets and drawers, sits in window tracks and air vents, and comes back as soon as you think you've wiped it away.
That dust is the reason post-construction cleaning is its own service. A normal clean moves dust around; construction dust has to be taken out, from the top of the room down, in several passes. Ledges, door tops, light fixtures and ceiling fans come first, then cabinets inside and out, then counters and fixtures, and the floors last — otherwise the floor is dirty again before you've finished the room.
Then there's what the trades leave behind: paint drips and overspray on glass and trim, cement or grout haze on tile, adhesive on new fixtures, stickers and labels on windows and appliances, and debris in corners and closets. Each needs its own method, and the wrong one scratches the brand-new finish you just paid for.
Floors deserve special mention. New hardwood, laminate, vinyl plank and tile each need to be cleaned for what they are, and new flooring is at its most vulnerable before it has seen any wear. Grit left on a floor gets ground into it by the first people to walk across it.
