The most common question we get on an estimate is some version of "what's the difference, really?" From the outside, a deep clean looks like a regular clean that takes longer. It isn't. A regular clean maintains a home that is already in order — rooms, floors, bathrooms, the kitchen, dust and surface stains — and is designed to be repeated on a schedule. A deep clean goes after accumulation: the grime that builds up slowly over months in the places no weekly visit is meant to reach.
Start with the bathroom, because that's where Houston homes show it first. Humidity here means mildew in grout lines and caulk, soap scum on shower glass and tile, and mineral marks around fixtures. None of that comes off with an all-purpose spray and more effort — it needs the right product and time for it to work. A deep clean gives every one of those surfaces that time.
The kitchen is the other place the two jobs split. A regular clean handles counters, the sink, the outside of the appliances and the floor. A deep clean adds the grease film that settles on cabinet doors near the stove, the range hood, the backsplash and the tops of the upper cabinets where nobody looks, and cleans the appliance exteriors properly rather than a quick wipe.
Then there are the edges of every room: baseboards, door frames, corners, window sills, vents, switch plates, light fixtures and ceiling fans — plus the furniture itself. None of them looks dirty day to day. All of them are visibly dirty when you finally look, and all of them are skipped on a regular visit because doing them properly takes hours.
Order matters as much as the list. Everything is done top to bottom — fans and fixtures first, then trim, then surfaces, then floors last — so nothing gets done twice. Products go on early and are left to work while other rooms are cleaned, because scrubbing a dry surface is how finishes get damaged.
So which do you need? If your home is cleaned regularly and nothing has been let go, a regular clean is right. Book a deep clean if the house hasn't been professionally cleaned in six months or more, if you can see mildew or soap scum in the shower, if the cabinets by the stove feel tacky, or if you're hosting. It's also the best first visit for a new customer, because it sets a baseline a regular schedule can hold.
